REACH / RoHS-EU Regulation
TFL Bearings is committed to operating responsibly on a global scale. We strictly adhere to all relevant laws and regulations and actively promote environmental protection and product sustainability. This declaration confirms our products’ compliance with the European Union’s REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 and the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive 2011/65/EU & (EU) 2015/863.
1. REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006
According to the REACH regulation, the bearing products supplied by TFL Bearings are defined as “articles.” For articles, the legal obligations primarily involve information transfer within the supply chain, particularly regarding Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC).
- Article Definition and Registration Obligations: Bearings are finished products whose function is determined by their shape, surface, and design, not their chemical composition. Therefore, the bearings themselves, along with any lubricants or preservatives they contain, are considered articles and are exempt from REACH’s registration obligations.
- Information Communication Obligation (REACH Article 33): This regulation requires suppliers to provide sufficient information to their customers to ensure the safe use of an article if it contains any SVHC (from the candidate list published by the European Chemicals Agency, ECHA) in a concentration exceeding 0.1% (weight by weight, w/w).
TFL Bearings’ Declaration of Conformity: TFL Bearings confirms that we have implemented a strict supply chain management process and continuously obtain material declarations from our suppliers. Based on our current best knowledge and information received from our upstream suppliers, we hereby declare that none of our products contain any substance on the current ECHA SVHC Candidate List at a concentration above the legal threshold of 0.1% (w/w). Therefore, we currently have no obligation to notify our customers under this regulation. We will continue to monitor updates to the SVHC candidate list and update our compliance status accordingly.
2. RoHS Directive (Directive 2011/65/EU & (EU) 2015/863)
The RoHS Directive restricts specific hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) to protect human health and the environment.
- Scope: The scope of the RoHS Directive is strictly limited to the categories of EEE listed in Annex I. As mechanical components, bearings themselves do not fall into any of these EEE categories. Therefore, TFL Bearings’ products are not directly subject to the legal jurisdiction of the RoHS Directive.
- Voluntary Compliance Commitment: Despite this, TFL Bearings fully understands and supports the environmental goals of the RoHS Directive. We recognize that our products may be integrated by our customers into final equipment that is subject to the RoHS Directive. Therefore, we take proactive measures to ensure our products meet the RoHS restrictions on hazardous substances.
TFL Bearings’ Declaration of Conformity: TFL Bearings is committed to providing products that comply with global environmental standards. We confirm that our products meet the maximum concentration values for the 10 restricted substances listed in the RoHS 3 (EU 2015/863) Directive:
Lead (Pb): < 0.1%
Mercury (Hg): < 0.1%
Cadmium (Cd): < 0.01%
Hexavalent Chromium (CrVI): < 0.1%
Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB): < 0.1%
Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE): < 0.1%
Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP): < 0.1%
Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP): < 0.1%
Dibutyl phthalate (DBP): < 0.1%
Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP): < 0.1%
